Red Oak Floor Hardwood Floor Refinishing St Paul

Red Oak Number 1 before Sanding and Coating
We sanded this floor about a year ago. But I just found the picture now and wanted to put it up. What you are looking at is 1.5 inch red oak in a 1920 duplex. I think the previous owners tried unsuccessfully to sand the floors themselves. We refinished these hardwood floors in St Paul and they turned out nice. As you can see from the after picture the difference is very clear. The main thing you want to notice on you’re floors is if there is any water or urine stains because we can’t get those out completely. I remember sanding this floor well because it was in pretty good condition. There was no stains, but it was just beat up a little bit. The owners I think were first time home buyers and they bought the house on a short sale. It was a duplex and there was renters in the lower level they were paying their rent. So all they had to do was move in and fix up the place a little bit. I think they got a pretty good deal. I remember the house did have radiators so that made it more difficult to sand. It usually takes an extra 15-30 minutes per radiator to sand and coat. So if you have 6-8 radiators its going to take some extra time. But most jobs we can still get done in 2-3 days. Also, now that it is getting a little cooler sanding and coating becomes easier because the finish will cure out better. The ideal curing temperature is about 70 degrees. Go to Lon Musofs in Eden Prairie to check out different finishes and stains. When its 85 degree is the house then the finish does not cure well and takes a lot longer for the sheen to even out. We do hardwood floor sanding and refinishing in St Paul so call us and we will come out and give you an estimate.
