Did you just buy a house that had an big old boiler, but now it has a force air furnace?  If you did, then your not alone.  Houses in Minneapolis built between 1900-1960 many times were originally built with old boilers or big force air furnaces.  Over the years though people would remove them and install high efficiency force air units.

Once these new units were installs many hardwood floor vent covers that once were being used are now not.  Instead, there is just a hole in the floor.  If you want to fix it it is not that difficult.  The key is to find the old wood to match up with the existing wood.  The best spot to find this is the Reuse Center.  We probably patch these holes on 20-30% of the jobs we complete.  As you can see in the pictures once the floor has been patched it is difficult to notice were it was.
